Effectively Putting Circular Construction into Practice: A Practical Guide (German only)

The construction industry plays an important role in lowering greenhouse gas emissions, reducing resource use, and minimizing waste. Circular construction plays a crucial role in achieving these reductions. On behalf of the State Institute for Environment Baden-Württemberg (LUBW), we developed a guide for decision-makers, project managers, and planners who aim to foster circular building environments and/or implement circular construction projects successfully.

The guide introduces circular construction, highlighting its significance and the regulatory framework in Germany and internationally. Additionally, it offers valuable insights into the key aspects, challenges, and tools needed to make circular construction possible.

In the second section, the emphasis is on practical implementation: How can circularity be integrated into the project phases? How can circular material selection and construction methods be successfully implemented? The practical advice is complemented by helpful checklists and best-practice examples.

The final part focuses on circular construction in public tenders and refers to relevant legal regulations. Additionally, the appendix provides text elements that can be used to effectively integrate the requirements into tender documents.

On the website of the Innovation Center for Circular Construction (InZiBau) of the LUBW, the checklists can be downloaded as fillable PDF files, and the text modules as GAEB files.
