Fact Sheet 2000-Watt Site: Campus Sursee, Oberkirch LU (German only)

On behalf of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE), intep led a 3-year pilot project in which 11 sites were tested for the “2000-Watt Site in Transformation” certification. This fact sheet provides information about Campus Sursee in Oberkirch (LU), one of the first existing sites to receive the certification.

As the largest educational and seminar center in Switzerland, Campus Sursee demonstrates how sustainable practices can be successfully integrated into the daily operations of a large facility. The fact sheet highlights its transformation into a “2000-Watt Site in Transformation.” These are existing sites or districts that commit to implementing measures to reduce their energy consumption and CO2 emissions in such a way that the same ambitious goals are achieved within a maximum of 20 years.

The heating supply has already been made CO2-neutral through a woodchip heating network, and a significant portion of the electricity demand is met by photovoltaic systems. Special challenges lie in mobility, particularly due to the decentralized location. The targeted reduction in individual traffic aims to significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions. Further measures to reduce the carbon footprint, including in the areas of energy efficiency and renewable energy, are planned.
