Report: Cooperation and Communication for Energy-Optimized Management and Use of Residential Buildings (German only)
As part of a study commissioned by SwissEnergy, intep, in collaboration with the Institute of Applied Media Studies (IAM) at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), investigated how improved communication and cooperation between managers, users and owners of residential buildings can reduce energy consumption.
Based on a socio-psychological action model, the study examines whether clear and problem-solving-oriented communication among stakeholders could contribute to reducing energy consumption. It explores whether user motivation and behavior can be influenced by jointly defining goals and discussing specific energy consumption patterns.
Three approaches promise effective communication for energy-optimized residential operation. The findings have been integrated into the newly developed “Management model for cooperation and communication for the energy-optimized operation of residential buildings” (ZUMOD). The model visualizes the ideal collaboration and communication processes of key players throughout the entire life cycle of residential buildings.
