Ensuring legal compliance for the ISS portfolio

Result

Recommended measures, training & audits

Ensuring legal compliance plays a crucial role in facility management, as the service provider is not only responsible for their own compliance but also assumes responsibility on behalf of the client. Compliance with these standards, including appropriate evidence, is also required by management systems such as ISO 14001 (environmental management) and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety).

The starting point

Particularly in large building complexes, ensuring operational responsibility for each individual property poses a significant challenge for service providers. ISS Switzerland manages around 10,000 client properties in Switzerland, ranging from cleaning services to technical facility management. The company is aware that legal compliance can only be ensured through regular inspections, comprehensive updates on relevant legislative changes, and targeted training programs.

Our contribution

Intep assessed the need for action in light of legislative changes and developed information and recommendations for measures for ISS and its clients. To ensure that ISS employees on site are aware of their responsibilities, intep conducted legal compliance courses throughout Switzerland. In addition to learning about laws and their practical implications in daily operations, employees were also prepared for possible environmental management system audits in accordance with ISO 14001:2015. The execution of audits and random checks of ISS services at client sites provides ISS with a clear overview of how tasks are handled by their employees on site and highlights whether further actions, such as training or additional tools, are required.
