2000-Watt Label for Sites (German only)

In the 28–29/2014 issue of TEC21 – Swiss Construction Journal on the topic of “Energy-Efficient Renovation,” we examine the requirements and benefits of certifying sites according to the 2000-Watt standard.

The article explains how the “2000-Watt Site” certification fills a previous gap in the Swiss labeling landscape by evaluating not just individual buildings but entire sites. The certification for 2000-Watt sites is time-limited and must be periodically reviewed and recertified during the development, implementation, and operational phases, similar to the Energiestadt label.

It allows project developers and builders to publicly demonstrate their commitment to sustainable construction and operation and supports municipalities in enforcing sustainability goals through special land-use plans. Key to achieving this are integrated planning and the adaptation of building standards to significantly reduce energy consumption and meet the goals of the 2000-Watt Society.
