Practical Guide to Applying the GHG Protocol (German)

The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol is the most widely used international standard for greenhouse gas accounting. Its clear categorization and consistent methodology make it the most important framework for organizations worldwide. In practice, however, concrete guidance on implementation is often lacking, leading to uncertainty in interpretation among businesses and government agencies.

To address this gap, experts from the consulting firms intep and Carbotech, commissioned by and with the support of the Federal Office of Energy (BFE) and the Federal Office for the Environment (BAFU), have developed a practical guide. The aim is to support professionals who create greenhouse gas inventories with solid expertise and to harmonize the approach to accounting. The practical guide provides hands-on implementation support and concrete examples. It includes recommendations from the authors based on years of practical consulting experience. The content has been coordinated in collaboration with stakeholders from business and consulting.
