Smart City Innovations for Sustainable Sites (German only)

In this contribution to the Swiss Equity yearbook Real Estate 2020, Daniel Kellenberger and Heinrich Gugerli explore the role of smart city concepts in the developing sustainable urban spaces within the framework of the 2000-Watt Site.

The authors explain the 2000-Watt Site certification system, define the smart city concept, and highlight the benefits of combining the two approaches. By introducing the “Smart Site Tool”, they demonstrate how SwissEnergy’s “2000-Watt Site” program facilitates the digital transformation in cities.

The tool offers a collection of smart innovations at the site and district levels, assesses their application in specific contexts, and aligns them with the requirements for a sustainable 2000-Watt Wite. This approach enables the effective implementation of smart city innovations at site and neighborhood level, supported by technologies that reduce energy consumption and increase participation.
