Zero Emission Districts (ZED) and the 2000-Watt-Certificate

The publication highlights the successful “2000-Watt Site” certificate in Switzerland and explains how a “Zero Emission District” certificate can be developed for China within the framework of the Sino-Swiss partnership on Zero Emission Buildings.

The Sino-Swiss Zero Emission Building (ZEB) Project, where intep and Skat Consulting play a leading role in project management, aims to replicate and further develop the best practices of energy-efficient building and urban planning in Switzerland to the Chinese context. One proven standard is the 2000-Watt Site standard, which sets high benchmarks for energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

The publication examines how a new standard for Zero Emission Districts (ZED) can be developed from a combination of the 2000-Watt Site and the ZEB standard. It also offers concrete proposals for its implementation. Other standards, such as the Indian 2000-watt smart city concept, are also considered. Finally, the publication identifies areas where further research is needs.
