The former Tegel Airport make space for Berlin. The 500-hectare site will host the Urban Tech Republic, a research and industrial park for urban technologies, and the Schumacher Quartier, a new residential district accommodating over 10,000 people: climate-neutral, resilient and socially diverse. A vast landscape area, the Tegeler Stadtheide, is also planned. With its high sustainability standards, the urban development project is one of the most ambitious in all of Europe.
The state of Berlin has entrusted Tegel Projekt GmbH with the development and management of the Urban Tech Republic, the Schumacher Quarter, and a landscape park as part of the Tegeler Stadtheide. The company employs over 70 people and has an important goal: achieving climate neutrality well before 2050.
