Sustainability ETH HIF

The ETH research and laboratory building HIF on the Hönggerberg is about 40 years old and therefore needs renovation. In addition to the renovation, the office and laboratory space will be expanded to meet increasing usage requirements. Both the renovation and the extension are to be certified according to DGNB for laboratory buildings.

DGNB Gold, Minergie-P-Eco Certification; Facility Management Concepts

ETH Zurich has a large number of teaching and research buildings on the Hönggerberg in Zurich. The HIF is the research building of the Department of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geomatics. The office and laboratory building with workshops and test hall was built in 1960s and is therefore in need of renovation. At the same time, the office and laboratory building is to be extended, in order to be able to meet future requirements. Both the renovation and the extension must fulfil high technical requirements.

ETH strives for high sustainability targets for all its buildings. DGNB for laboratory buildings and Minerige-P-Eco were defined as the target system and control instrument with which sustainability can be comprehensively assessed.

Intep accompanies the planning team for the integration of sustainability requirements in the planning process as well as their implementation in the construction phase. We prepare the life cycle assessment, document the requirements for certification and support the choice of materials with building ecology expertise.

Besides this we also develop Facility Management Concepts from the pre-design phase to the end of the construction implementation.
