Final Report: SAN-CH – Professionals for Energy Renovation as Catalysts for Renovation in Switzerland (German only)

As part of the SAN-CH project, Intep, on behalf of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy, investigated how the renovation rate in Switzerland can be increased by connecting property owners with professionals. Four pilot regions served as catalysts for this initiative.

To meet climate goals, the building renovation rate needs to be doubled. The SAN-CH project explored how municipalities can contribute to this effort. The objective was to connect property owners with professional firms such as construction companies and architectural offices, aligning their needs and expertise to initiate renovation projects. To this end, the so-called “SAN-CH process” was developed and is detailed in the final report.

The preliminary study findings revealed that despite financial support, consulting services, and legal incentives, the renovation rate in Switzerland remains too low to meet energy targets. Implementing the SAN-CH process could help advance the energy transition in the building sector and contribute to a higher renovation rate. The experiences and insights gained have been compiled into a guide for cities and municipalities.
